Good stockmanship
Reading cattle, spotting the animal that is off before it becomes a problem, and handling stock calmly.

Cattle people first and foremost — established in 2003 and still run day to day by the family whose name is on the gate.
DC Cattle Ltd was established in 2003 by Damien and Mary Conlon, working the land off the Newry Road just outside Crossmaglen in South Armagh.
It began, as these things do, with a love of good cattle and a few fields — and it has grown steadily on the same principles ever since. We are not a big anonymous operation. We are a family that knows its ground, knows its stock and takes real pride in turning out cattle other farmers are glad to buy.
The work is honest and unglamorous: early mornings, careful buying, feeding right and keeping a close eye on every animal. That patience is the whole business, and it is why people keep dealing with us.
Reading cattle, spotting the animal that is off before it becomes a problem, and handling stock calmly.
Looking after grass, hedges and water so the ground stays healthy and keeps carrying stock well.
An honest description and a straight price, every time — the only way to keep a name worth having.
Our home ground is the green, rolling drumlin country around Crossmaglen, close to the border in the south of the county. It is grass country — well watered and kind to cattle through the grazing season — and it has shaped how we farm.
We buy and sell across the local marts and deal directly with neighbouring farmers throughout the area. Being local matters to us: it means the people we trade with can see the cattle, see the ground, and know exactly who they are dealing with.
